Camping was launched by the CN D in 2015 under the auspices of its then-director, choreographer Mathilde Monnier. It seeks to offer an original programme of encounters and experiments by organising two weeks of workshops, screenings and festive moments in the CN D’s spaces in Pantin and Lyon. The sharing of different choreographic practices is at the heart of this programme, which has gone from strength to strength since its creation.
Over the course of previous years’ editions, Camping has thus become a key event for the international dance scene, and today welcomes a broad public and hundreds of dancers, including students from dance schools the world over, renowned professionals and passionate amateurs. Through the place it affords to young artists in training, the transmission of skills and knowledge and the cross-disciplinary nature of artistic practice, this platform resonates with the aims of the Artists in the Community programme.
The Foundation has closely supported Camping since its first edition in 2009. In January 2017, this support was recognised when the partnership was awarded the “Un projet, un mécène” prize for cultural patronage by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.
